After a short hiatus in the later end of 2023, Dank ‘N’ Dirty starts 2024 with a debut release on the label from the London-based Spectre with the Texture EP.
The Texture EP perfectly explores Spectre’s unique blend of harmonically rich soundscapes. Hauntingly beautiful melodies pair with to the intricately layered rhythms in 4 distinct movements.
To kick off the EP is the title track ‘Texture’, which brings together lush pulsating chords intertwined with rhythms to create a club-ready roller.
‘Shimmer’ builds upon the heads-down roller foundation established in the opening track, introducing a progressive soundscape with haunting melodies cascading over evolving polyrhythmic beats.
‘Trunks’, with its hypnotic textures and driving rhythms, takes listeners on a sonic journey that marks the midway point of the EP with an introspective half-step head nodder.
Closing out the EP with an enigmatic flair, ‘Pain Dub’ delves into darker sonic territory, while retaining the signature atmospheric charm that defines Spectre’s music. The track unfolds with brooding intensity, as pulsating basslines and uneasy melodies intertwine to create a sense of tension and release. ‘Pain Dub’ serves as a fitting conclusion to Spectre’s debut EP on Dank ‘N’ Dirty, which has made us fully invested in their future sonic adventures.
